The TEDx talk by Dr. Wahid Majrooh, member of PEN AF's Board of Directors, has been selected by TED as an Editor's Pick and published on TED's global platform.
On 15 August 2021, Dr. Majrooh, then Afghanistan's Minister of Health, was chairing a national emergency meeting as the government collapsed. He and his colleagues chose to stay in Kabul. In his talk at TEDxGVAGrad, he draws on that experience to ask a question every leader in a fragile setting must face: "When the system you rely on collapses, what remains of your responsibility?"
His experience reflects the kind of expertise PEN AF brings together: lessons that can help governments, donors and international organizations keep essential health services running when institutions fail.
